Impressions from the road - Sustainability
True north may guide the feet, but the heart charts the course to sustainability
In our latest chapter of Duct Tape Theory, we veered off course. Instead of crossing borders on foot, by car or in the last row of an airplane, we embarked on a different kind of trip — one that explores the contours of an idea rather than the landscapes of a place.
Sustainability.
From the streets to the trails, sustainability takes many forms. Like a path through a dense forest, there are countless ways, each with its own set of challenges and rewards. There's no manual, no map that can guide us through. It's a concept fraught with imperfections and brimming with intangibles, yet it thrives on small, scrappy steps.
The bootstrap mentality has long energized our travels here at Duct Tape Theory. But this was uncharted territory, a new peak to ascend—no compass except our conscience to point the way.
What we found and photographed were communities in motion, initiatives gaining traction, and ideas taking root and spreading. No two visions of "sustainability" were the same, except in their common goal to protect what we treasure most. We saw change happening organically, molded by ordinary people doing extraordinary things out of care for the greater good.
In these snapshots are the makings of transformation. However winding the trail, however arduous the climb, the effort comes from love. The love of people lending their talents, lending their voices, lending their actions to shape a future we all wish to see. One where sustainability isn't questioned, but embedded into lives well-lived.
Ride along as we navigate through the intricacies of sustainability within an industry that struggles with its own contradictory ideals.
